The Epic Stories Behind the Cards
Rising from misty pagan forests, squeezed between the Christian powers of the West and East, the Baltic tribes should have vanished.
Most did.
But the Lithuanians did not.
They united through blood, sword, and diplomacy, forged the Kingdom of Lithuania, and built the largest state in medieval Europe — stretching from the Baltic to the Black Sea.
They faced the East — and defeated the Golden Horde.
They faced the West — and did not bow.
For a time, they held the line for all of Europe.
And though Lithuania was eventually erased from the map, as all empires are, its beginning was unlike any other — unexpected, illogical, miraculous.
This is the story of that beginning.
